Salkantay
Salkantay is the most representative snowfall summit of the Vilcabamba mountain range, reaching a height of 6271 musl. It was to be expected that, among controversies, its first ascent dates back to 1952, during the mountain fever that led many to venture to the conquest of the highest peaks in the world, attributing this merit to the Swiss expedition led by Bronimann and Marx, followed by multiple attempts to open the 6 routes that have been opened up to the moment, of all of these,it was registered the case of the disappearance of Fritz Kasparek on the route marked by NE, in honor of which there is a plaque that Commemorates it at the Palkay base site. The summit has two summits, one located to the west and the other to the east, after the later fall of the serac that differentiated them in the west summit, now its altitudes are very similar, the route of greater accessibility is the Slovenian route in the face East of the mountain.
