Killa Rumiyoq

Located in the province of Anta, about one hour from the city of Cusco, following the Cusco – Abancay road, Quilla Rumiyoq is one of the many archaeological centers that survive of the vast Inca empire, its current name literally translates to the phrase “Stone of the Moon “referring to the most striking and successful architectural form that certainly forms a crescent, the original name of the place as many others have been lost between the centuries. In spite of the imperial Inca style that is clearly noticeable in the limestone rock architecture of the place, it is presumed that this place had prior human occupation and use, with purely religious and administrative purposes in both periods of occupation given the strategic space that dominates visually throughout The so-called pampa of Anta, however it is possible to find recurrent theories of astronomical use of it. The mentioned presence of calcareous formations gives idea of the existence of a lacustrine cup in the period of Pleistocene.

The zone is in a plateau that marks constant winds to an average height of 3300 m.s.n.m. Surrounded by mountain ranges.
