Chonta

Chonta is a high Andean village located on a small plateau in the district of Limatambo, province of Anta in Cusco, the antiquity of its religious icons such as its bell and cross carved in stone dating back to the end of the seventeenth century, more precisely in 1695, give us an idea of ​​the antiquity of this town that surely should have been populated even earlier, its main economic activities are given to agriculture, livestock and have been the last couple of years that allowed them access to a still incipient tourism, that in spite of it has given them encouragement to enter in this activity and to be participants of the same one by means of the participation and handling of the pertinent entities, all thanks to the natural attraction that represents his canyon, because this is a propitious habitat for the Andean condor whose observation is a natural spectacle of necessary study because testimonies given by the same settlers indicate changes in the behaviors of these animals, in reference to their known regular behavior, the area is implemented with three viewpoints, and the route is properly signalized. The climate of the area is frigid and dry. Due to its location, the vegetation varies between forests of Qeuñas (Polilepis Incana) and those that adorn the landscapes of puna, a bucolic dream.
